Challenge 177

It has been awhile since I have posted. I have been doing the tangles but just not posted any. Today I am posting my version of "Truffle by Caroline Brand, CZT" which is the challenge for this week. I have enjoyed doing challenge number 177. I was very excited on how it came out and the color combination.

Challenge 171

I have dedicated this challenge to Artoo and his family. What a lovely family and to start an organization for what Artoo has is great. Here is what I came up with for my challenge.  I just have the beads going around the inside but none on the chain itself yet as he will beginning again adding to his new bracelet.

Challenge 170 Bugles

This weeks challenge was a little harder until I understood it better about halfway through it. The designer of the tangle thought it reminded her of bugles, the kind that you eat. I thought that peanuts went along with bugles pretty well so I drew small odd shape circles to fill in my white space and gave the border a little odd shape.

Challenge 169 Circles

When I drew my circle it did not come out as a circle so I just added circles to it. Then added the other tangles. To me it looks like an alligator's eye. That is what I like about art. It can be anything you want and other people get to see what they see. Thanks for this challenge of circles. I look forward every week to the challenge. I also do dangles every chance I get during each day. They are so habit forming.

Challenge 168

The challenge for this week was called rain. In my drawing I had lightning bolts, clouds with silver linings, rain and grass.

Challenge 167

This is my version of challenge  #167. It was a little harder then some of the others I have tried. We were suppose to make the Well and Punzel tangle together in one picture. I need a little more work on it, but enjoyed trying at least doing this challenge.

Challenge 166

First I want to wish The Diva an early happy birthday. I really enjoyed doing the challenge for this week. It was totally different then I have done before and got some new ideas. I like how you combined Carole Ohly's Tink and a similar tangle to the Hollebaugh.

This is how my came out.

This is what I came up for challenge 165. I started one and didn't like it. Close out the instructions and then tried to do it by the first one I made. Somewhere along the way I could not follow my copy. So I ended up with this one instead. At first didn't think would send this one. The more I worked on it the more I liked it. Not my best. But they say...practice, practice, practice. I will need to do that for this pattern.

I Took A Class

On Saturday, April 26, 2014 I took a class with a Zentangle teacher in my area. It was a great class. I learned how to do shading and some of the basic Zentangle  designs. So I am showing one of the tiles I did when I got home.

Circles

I am not sure if this tangle is finished yet. I have to keep looking at it. It seems like it needs something more but I like what is there so don't want to change it until I am sure.

For this tangle I took a kitchen tool that had different size circles and picked the one that I liked. Then I just kept moving the circle around and drawing it. Then I took different colored pencils and a marker and colored it in.  I also have a special needle that you can push holes into paper. I used this to get a punched look. I finished it off by using a light watercolor paint.

Hope you like and enjoy doing tangles.

This one I cropped a little more.

A New Creation

I was looking at one design and wanted to try it out. But when I started it came out completely different which is alright. It is so much fun to see what designs come out when you are finished.

Challenge 163

My filling in the black areas didn't come out as well as I hoped. But in general I like the design. First time trying to do the Rixty tangle.

A Design Of My Own

I have not been able yet to try challenge number 161. I haven't been doing tangles that long and it looks a little more difficult one than ones I have tried before. But as I was sitting listening to TV las night I did come up with something like the challenge.

At least it has the bubble look to it.

Hope you like it.

Challenge #160

I took on the challenge #160 doing a spiral. Came out completely differently than I planned but this is what is fun in doing Zentangles.

Before I even knew about zentangles I was doing them but in a different way. In this one I am not sure if I did it with my colored wax and then burned the design in. But I know for sure I burned the design in. It is on an cut-down index card. So I guess zentangles can be done any way that you want to do them.

Have you tried any yet?

Happy Wednesday

I am enjoying so much sharing with you what I am learning about Zentangles. Each time I look at a new design I see the beauty in it.

I have nothing to share with you today as far as a picture but want to encourage you to go to some of the sights. I am new to blogging so not sure how to add the sites to the side bar so will add them into this post.

Also I would love to hear from anyone who is doing Zentangles and there is a place to comment on the bottom. I would like to have a group of us sharing in this exciting craft.

One Of My First Tangles

Hi,
Today I am posting one of my first tangles I did. It is a lot simpler and shows you how easy it really is. The more you do it the easier and more detailed your tangles will become. The round edges you see is the card that I drew on.

Hope you enjoy.

Welcome!

BoJean's Creations
Bonnie J. House

I want to welcome you to my brand new blog. I enjoy doing crafts and so I decided that I would like to share what I do with all of you.

My newest craft is called Zentangle and I have as my logo my newest one that I have made. There are many books out now on this subject and if you enjoy looking at and doing abstract art this is the craft to go with. Just look up Zentangle on your computer and you will come up with many sites you can go to. One that I have is Life Imitates Doodles and there is a section just for Zentangle.

All you need to do Zentangles is make up a 31/2 x 31/2 inch piece of paper. Cardstock, or any kind of heavy paper is best, but can use anything. A pencil and a pen. If you want to really get into it a special pen size 01 for thin lines and size 005 for wider lines are good ones to start out with these are pens especially for drawing.  Using a regular pen is fine.

That's It!
That is all you need.

To Start
I use the back of an old disc case and tape my paper onto this. It makes a nice surface to work on and my paper doesn't move around. Then I take my pencil and draw a border of some kind. But I do it very lightly. Can erase at the end. Then I take my pen and start at the left-hand top corner and start drawing. The fun of this craft is that you can make lines, circles, leave shapes, all kinds of things that you want to draw. You can fill in the design or make them all black or can leave your space plain white. If you want you can leave some white.

It is great fun and it very relaxing. Once your tangle is done you sign your name on the front and the date. Then you can share them with your friends.

I will be posting more and would love to hear from you if you are new to Zentangles or if you have been doing it for awhile.

So Hope You Enjoy!
